18 Year-old Jace "the Ace" Meier Wins at Irwindale
Secures Rookie of the Year Title

Las Vegas, NV (September 17, 2007) - Irwindale rookie, Jace "the Ace" Meier earned his second NASCAR Late Model main event win of the season Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway. After winning earlier in the year at his home track - the Bullring at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway - this weekend was Meier's first win at the famed Irwindale Speedway in the 50 lap Auto Club Late Model main event.

Meier, a Las Vegas native who recently moved to North Carolina to attend college and progress his racing career, started the day off strong by qualifying second behind High Point Racing teammate, Scottie Jenkins. In the main event, Meier took the lead from Michael Wright on lap 19 with an inside pass in turn 2. Multi-race winner Nick Joanides and Kevin Callahan provided several late race challenges for Meier as the three drivers went three-wide several times in the last ten laps. "The car was great which allowed me to get into the lead early on" explained Meier. "However, towards the end we fell off just a little and I really had to give everything I had to keep those two guys behind me."

The win clinched the Rookie of the Year title for Meier and his #55 High Point Racing crew lead by crew chief, Brett Barnett. With one race remaining for the Auto Club Late Models at Irwindale Speedway, Meier is a mere 10 points out first for the season championship behind his team-owner Tim Huddleston. "I'm really excited about the last race" stated Meier. "We're going to do everything we can to win again and that's all we can do. If it so happens that we get fortunate and win the championship and Rookie of the Year, that would obviously be phenomenal, but we're just going for the win next week."

Meier is an 18 year old Las Vegas native, currently racing for Tim Huddleston's High Point Racing team. Meier recently graduated from Spring Valley High School with a 4.414 GPA where he was the President of his Senior Class, President of Spring Valley's DECA chapter, and a recognized Peer Mentor. He is currently attending Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina on a full academic scholarship as part of the Honors Institute.

JACE MEIER NARROWLY MISSES WINNING GRAND PRIZE
IN THE FORZA MOTORSPORT SHOWDOWN

Las Vegas race car driver Jace Meier qualified first to determine the starting line up for the "Final Race" of the Forza Motorsport Showdown yesterday evening. Meier had a commanding lead after the first three episodes of the live-action four-part mini-series, being aired on SPEED, the automotive lifestyle and motor sports network.

In last night's episode, the team went to a private dinner in the presidential wine cellar of the Chteau élan Winery & Resort. On the final day of racing, the teams went to the drag strip and Meier finished second. The last race was at Road Atlanta where Meier qualified first, but the producers decided to invert the field so he was last to start. In less than two laps, Meier passed every car and took the lead. However, on the third lap, the thermostat went out and the car overheated and he had to limp to the finish line. With such a commanding lead going into the final race, Meier still had a chance, but Angela Cope managed to pass another competitor which gave her just enough points to win

"I had been in the lead at the end of each race day and knew I could catch up at Road Atlanta, even with being last in the inverted field," said Meier. "I couldn't believe the car gave out on me at the end, but the entire show was am amazing experience and I'm a better driver because of it."

Meier is now focusing on the new season at hand, entering his fifth year of competitive racing on March 24th in the Late Model Division at Irwindale Speedway.

Meier was named "Rookie of the Year" in the NASCAR Late Model division at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this season. In addition, he ran with USAC as part of the California Ford Focus Midget Pavement series, winning three races and four poles in the past two seasons.

Meier is an 18 year old Las Vegas native and according to people that have seen him race, has a bright future ahead of him. When he isn't racing, Meier is an honor student at Spring Valley High School and a very active member in his school and the community, in addition to serving as a motivational speaker. (more)
